30 Weeks

I cannot believe that I am only 10 weeks away from my DD. Number 2 is doing quite a bit of moving around these days. I am almost certain that he is doing summersaults on a daily basis. I love to eat really spicy cinnamon candy and I used to think that was what was making him move around like crazy. But tonight I did an experiment and didn't eat any and he still managed some acrobatics in my belly. This pregnancy is either very different from my last or my memory has almost completely failed me. It seems I am now, at 7 1/2 mos, experiencing all of the symptoms that I didn't experience until 9 mos last time. I can barely function past 6:30 at night. I am so TIRED. Some times painfully so. I do get little bursts of energy which are nice but they don't last for long. I also can't eat very large meals anymore. Yesterday we went for a brunch buffet and although I really enjoyed eating it, it just about killed me for the rest of the day. Maalox is truly my best friend. How does any one do this with more than one child running around?????

Strangely, with all of my bad eating habits (candy and junk!) and my infrequent work outs, I am right on par with my previous weight gain. I guess I do use up a lot of energy just hanging out with Oliver.

A shout out to Eric's sister, Cristina, who last Friday gave birth to her second boy, Graham. Her family is doing well and Cooper seems to be adjusting well to his new bro.

twenty-three weeks

I am definitely in the "good" part of pregnancy right now. I have my energy back and other than some minor digestive issues, I feel fantastic! If only this would last for the nest 4 months! I am feeling a ton of movement and occasional braxton hicks contractions. They are no big deal except that they must be contracting on my bladder because I feel an urgent sense to pee when they come and then it goes away. I don't remember that from my first pregnancy. One affect that is left over from last time is weekend abdominals. If i sneeze or laugh with my legs straight while lying down I get a muscle spasm in my lower abs. It is right where I had my incision and has bothered me off and on since I had the cesarian. Pilates has helped me a lot in that department and has been a godsend for my back. I recommend to anyone thinking about getting pregnant to do pilates beforehand and during pregnancy.

Here is my bulging belly at 22 weeks. I seem to be carrying EXACTLY the same as I did with O.

My belly is a-growing. I felt my first couple of flutters the other day. This is one of my favorite things about being pregnant!

"Mommy has a baby in her tummy."

Yes, the time has finally come for number two!!! We are just on the cusp of our 12 week mark and couldn't be more excited. Oliver is thrilled and has almost blown my cover several times by blurting out "Mommy has a baby in her tummy". Fortunately he is two and isn't quite articulate enough for most people to understand. So far, no one has let on that they understood what he was saying. Being pregnant with an active toddler definitely has its challenges. I am constantly nauseous and exhausted. Oliver has decided to give up his nap which has proven to be exceptionally challenging when all I want to do is snooze. Good thing he goes to bed around 6:00 so I can too! Our due date is Aug 27 which coincides perfectly with the start of preschool for Oliver. At least then I will get a couple of hours a week to tend soley to the baby or hopefully take a nap myself.

My babysitter called in sick the other day when I was scheduled for my first trimester screening. So I had to take Oliver with me. I was a little apprehensive at first, but it ended up being a lot of fun. I'm sure Oliver had no idea what he was looking at but he acted as though he could see the baby. Oliver chatted the technicians' ear off and proceeded to tell her how he was going to share his toys with the baby and that he wanted a baby girl over a baby boy. So cute! I guess it is all fun and games until the baby comes out.

This is the 11 week ultrasound of number two (the baby's name as of now). Unfortunately I can't get the scanner to work on my computer so a fuzzy photo will have to do.
