Exploration and Imaginary Friends

Oliver and Finn are both going through very cute phases right now. First, Finn is full-blown crawling and pulling up. He is so strong that when he lunges at something while I'm carrying him, it is hard to keep him in my arms. It is amazing how much earlier Finn is reaching all of his major physical milestones than Oliver did. I guess it is from the constant motivation to be like his older brother. Finn is a master explorer and particularly likes outlets, doors, toilet paper, and anything else that spells disaster. I am realizing that I need to re-baby-proof my apartment as we have gotten very laxed with Oliver being older. Finn learned how to wave a couple of weeks ago and is a happy to show off his new skill to just about any one. All he has to do is hear the word "hi" and little arm starts flapping away. Another favorite thing for Finn is to put his pacifier in other people's mouths. He gets a huge kick out of it and giggles away. His little personality is really coming out and it is quite endearing.

Oliver finished up school a couple of weeks ago and started up camp last week. He really likes it and always comes home happy and tired. It is nice that he is getting to meet some new friends as well as some familiar faces. Oliver has just started making up some imaginary friends. The idea of having imaginary friends always kind of creeped me out (thanks to The Shining!) but it is actually very innocent and fun. His two main "friends" are Beda and Cee-Cee. Oliver refers to them as his Grandsons and he is their Grandfather. It is common practice for us to get on the elevator, have the door almost shut, and then Oliver will quickly hit door open so his "Grandsons" can get in. It seems like we are always waiting around for Oliver's Grandsons to catch up to us!

Oliverism:
M: Oliver, do you want to pick out some toys for the car ride?
O: Um, no. I don't want any toys. I think I'll just play with my brain.

One night Oliver was having a hard time going to bed even though he was really tired. His babysitter Taylor was over and she was trying to convince him to go to bed.
T: Sometimes are bodies are tired but our minds are still awake.
O: Yeah, my body is in an invisible bed right now.

Oliver has been producing some really good music as of late. He loves playing his guitar, drums, and sax. He sings about Finn, Megan and I. He also loves to sing his favorite songs from Justin Roberts, and others. He also makes up songs, that are really funny... Soon, Finn will join the band...
