A New Year, Another Milestone

A lot has happened since either of us have written in this blog. I guess we just got caught up with the craziness of the holidays. I am now going to try to recap in chronological order.

First, Lindsay came out to visit. Unfortunately she didn't get the best of Oliver. He was teething pretty bad and only wanted to be with his mommy and daddy. Every time Lindsay tried to get in a photo with Oliver he would let out a huge scream and then start bawling. Lindsay , Oliver and I all went to Thomas the Tank to play. At this point Oliver was still calling everyone "dada" and pointed to Lindsay (who was standing by his stroller) and shouted "dada". A lady standing near us apparently thought Lindsay was Oliver's "dada" because she let out and uncomfortable little chuckle, much to the dismay of Lindsay. Lindsay will forever be responsible for teaching Oliver the word "dirty".

Second, we took our second trip to San Francisco to visit Oliver's Nana and Papa. Oliver had a lot of fun and was able to meet his second cousin, Dahlia, for the first time. They were so cute together and will hopefully maintain a friendship throughout the years. While we were in California we had the opportunity to go to auntie Boots' (Felicia) ranch. It was so beautiful and Oliver enjoyed seeing the horses and going off-roading. We also got to see aunt Erin, uncle Juan, and uncle Tim as well as all of Oliver's great grandparents including his great great grandma.

Lastly, two weeks ago Oliver started walking!!! His first unprovoked steps happened when he was trying to kiss his friend Katie. She wasn't having any of it and was running away so Oliver had to run after her and "ta da" he walked. Since then it has been a very gradual progression from crawling to walking. Her is now at about 90% walking and 10% crawling. He loves to roam around the apartment with his hands in the air and walk aimlessly. It is very cute . He is Very busy and keeps us on our toes. I am sometimes exhausted by 9:00am! Along with walking, Oliver has added several words to his vocabulary. These include: Mama (yay!), bottle, ball, bath, gorilla, water, and that.

Along with the new year Oliver is taking a slew of new classes. One is music and the other is an "independence class" where the kids engage in activities with out mom's help. He loves it and forgets that I am even in the room when he is there.
